Acrobat’s PDF-to-Word route gives you a DOCX file for editing in Word or importing into Docs. Opening the DOCX in Google Docs is an additional step, and import can change formatting. [3]

A few useful answers.
Why does a PDF lose its columns in Google Docs?
A PDF stores a fixed page layout; an editable document has to reconstruct its reading order and structure. Google’s conversion guidance notes that tables and columns may not be recognized. Try a converter on a representative page and compare the output to the PDF. [1]
Can a scanned PDF become editable?
Yes, with OCR. Clear, upright scans are easier to recognize. PDF Unfold includes OCR in every plan, but you should still check names, numbers, and the placement of text after import.
Is PDF Unfold always the best choice?
No. A simple text document may convert well with Google Drive. If files must stay within your Google account, consider a workflow that meets that requirement. If you need Word files as well, a PDF-to-DOCX converter may be a better fit. Review the same representative pages before choosing.
